President and Chief Executive Officer
Arnon Adar has been extensively involved in real estate and finance since 1976, originating more than $3 billion in transactions, and organizing several high-tech venture capital groups, bringing some to IPO status. Mr. Adar established CNA Enterprises as a real estate investment and advisory firm with a primary focus on direct equity investments of grocery-anchored shopping centers and regional power centers across the United States. As President and CEO, he oversees the company's ongoing operations, as well as its long-term vision. This vision includes the development and implementation of investment strategies which define the structure and organization of the company's corporate culture.
Prior to entering the real estate business, Mr. Adar served for three years in the Economic Affairs Office of the Diplomatic Corps. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
For more than thirty years, Mr. Adar has been an active leader in the Los Angeles community. He is a member of the United Jewish Fund/Real Estate & Construction Division, and he was nominated to the post of Commissioner for the California Citizens Compensation Commission by Governor Gray Davis. Driven by a desire to improve education for future generations, Mr. Adar served as a member of the Board of Trustees for Harvard-Westlake and was an original founder of the Crown Center for Middle East Studies at Brandeis University. In 2004, he received the Louis Dembitz Brandeis Distinguished University Fellow award from Brandeis. Mr. Adar is currently a member of the International Board of Trustees of Tel Aviv University, a member of the Founders Society of Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy.
Mr. Adar's passion for music has associated him with a variety of organizations and projects, which include serving as a member of the Executive Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Opera and The Founders for the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County and being a member of the West Coast Council of the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Committed to supporting medical research and development, Mr. Adar is a member of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Executive Cabinet Committee and a member of the Board of Governors of Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv.
In 2008, Mr. Adar and his family founded The Adar Family and Friends Research Institute for Eye Disease at Brandeis University. Working in conjunction with the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA and the Goldschlager Eye Institute at Sheba Medical Center in Israel, these researchers strive to develop more advanced treatment protocols for a variety of eye diseases.
Lawrence D. Sloan
Chief Operating Officer
In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of CNA Enterprises, Larry Sloan is responsible for the analysis and documentation of investments and financing for the company. Prior to joining CNA, Mr. Sloan practiced law with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York and Los Angeles. While at Sullivan & Cromwell, Mr. Sloan advised clients, including real estate private equity funds and public REITs, on real estate and finance transactions.
Mr. Sloan received his Juris Doctorate with honors from Duke University School of Law, where he was a member of the Editorial Board of the Duke Law Journal. Mr. Sloan also holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Sloan is a member of the State Bar of California and of the State Bar of New York, and holds a California real estate broker's license.
Chief Financial Officer
Mike Tantraphol is responsible for CNA's financing activities, including lender relationships, capital structuring, financial analysis, and the review of potential investments. Before joining CNA, Mr. Tantraphol served as an Investment Officer and Asset Manager for American Realty Advisors, and was responsible for originating and closing equity transactions, managing direct assets, joint venture partnerships and mezzanine borrowers.
Mr. Tantraphol is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, where he received both his Baccalaureate and his MBA.
Executive Vice President
Clayn Smith is involved in sourcing new financing, satisfying loan servicer requirements, analysis of property performance and review of potential investments. Before joining CNA Enterprises, Mr. Smith served as Senior Vice President for Hotel Systems International, with responsibility for real estate acquisitions, financing and project planning, and as Vice President of Development and Chief Financial Officer of the Hotel Division of The Stouffer Corporation.
Mr. Smith received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Harvard University.
As Vice President of CNA Enterprises, Lisa Lockhart is responsible for the oversight and implementation of company operations, administration and investor relations. Ms. Lockhart came to CNA from the entertainment licensing industry, where she served as Director of Licensing Operations for Carolco Pictures, Executive Director of Viacom Consumer Products, and Vice President of The Licensing Group Ltd.
Ms. Lockhart is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside.
Vice President, Accounting and Finance
Tony Pereyra is responsible for all accounting activities, financial reporting, cash management, budget preparation and analysis, and multi-state filings. Prior to joining CNA, Mr. Pereyra served as the Chief Financial Officer and Controller of Charterhouse Investment Company in Los Angeles. Mr. Pereyra has more than thirty-five years of experience in accounting and finance. He holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Economics and Accounting from De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Senior Vice President, Asset Management
In his role as Senior Vice President, Asset Management, Steve Alkana oversees the management of CNA's portfolio of properties. With a broad background in real estate development, management and leasing, Mr. Alkana applies his operational expertise to enhance property values through tenant retention, efficiency of service, property re-imaging, and rehabilitation. Before joining CNA, Mr. Alkana was Vice President of Operations for NewMark Merrill Companies, responsible for the oversight of a 4.5 million square foot portfolio of retail shopping centers.
Mr. Alkana received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Southern California, and completed the real estate program, "Real Property Development and Management" within the university's Marshall School of Business. Mr. Alkana is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Vice President, Asset Management
In his role as Vice President of Asset Management for CNA Enterprises, Joe Ford oversees the management and marketing activities of more than two million square feet of space in grocery anchored retail and power centers throughout Arizona, California and Nevada. Since joining the firm in 2004, Mr. Ford has upheld strong financial management and accountability while providing timely, accurate, and reliable financial information and enhancing internal control.
Mr. Ford received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from California State University Northridge. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and holds a California Broker's License.
Vice President, Leasing
Brandon Teruya is responsible for all leasing activities for the CNA portfolio, including lease negotiations and renewal transactions for the company's assets. Prior to joining CNA, Mr. Teruya was the Director of Leasing for a private commercial real estate company headquartered in Beverly Hills.
Mr. Teruya received his Juris Doctorate from William S. Richardson School of Law - University of Hawaii at Manoa. Mr. Teruya also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University. Mr. Teruya is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and also a member of the State Bar of Hawaii.
Director of Financial Asset Management
In her role as Director of Financial Asset Management, Ms. Breuklander is responsible for the oversight of all property level financial aspects for the CNA portfolio. She also heads the project management and oversight for large-scale capital improvement and property remodeling projects. Prior to joining CNA, Ms. Breuklander was Portfolio Manager for Douglas Emmett, responsible for the operations and financial performance of their Class A high rise assets in Century City, Beverly Hills, and Brentwood.
Ms. Breuklander received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economic Studies from the University of California Los Angeles and has her California Real Estate Salesperson's License.
